Over two weeks without my iPhone

Posted by Jake on Fri, 06/27/2008 - 06:49
So, it has been over two weeks without my iPhone, if you didn't read my previous post, i sold it [a little prematurely] in anticipation of the new hardware release. While i was initially worried that i would shrivel up and die, i am in fact alive and well. It definitely has been an interesting time of reflection. I have meticulously made mental notes of the times when it is truly missed. The big winners on the list have been the following...

The 4 Hour Work Week

Posted by Jake on Sun, 06/15/2008 - 17:58

For a couple months now i have been hearing buzz about "The Four Hour Work Week". I heard talk about it from a friend, saw it referenced in a blog, then on Seth Godin's blog, then my Mom mentioned it to me and that was the final straw. I added the author, Tim Ferriss to my rss feed and finally made it to a book store this weekend to buy the book.

30 days and 30 nights

Posted by Jake on Tue, 06/10/2008 - 15:48

So the new iPhone was announced as expected monday but unfortunately it will not be available till July 11th. With apple's inventory of v1 iPhones down to nothing, I was expecting them to get the new phone on the market a little sooner so they can start selling, but once again they are building demand. Prior the announcement i went ahead and sold my newly refurbished v1 phone, i guess a little prematurely. Now back on a old samsung phone after almost a full year of iPhone use, I will be using the next 30 day to reflect on the iPhone's usefulness, overuse, dependance and greatness.

Tomorrow is the start of the 2008 Apple WWDC which will begin with a keynote from Steve Jobs. It is widely speculated that he will be unveiling the new iPhone and also announcing the opening of the "App Store". These are both very exciting announcement, so we'll see how it all rolls out. Hopefully i will be picking up the new iPhone as early as this week! You can view live coverage of the keynote at http://www.macrumorslive.com/

Stand Out! With Simon Vetter

Posted by Jake on Fri, 06/06/2008 - 02:43

This past Wednesday I had the pleasure of hearing Simon Vetter speak at the Golden Triangle Professional Group meeting. He has written a book called "Stand Out" which gives some great information about "Branding Strategies for Business Professionals". Simon is a business coach, consultant, speaker and author who teaches professionals and executives to stand out in a positive, authentic way. I look forward to reading the book and hopefully hearing Simon speak again soon.

A new house is like new software

Posted by Jake on Wed, 06/04/2008 - 00:38

This weekend i spent my time in Utah helping my parent to move into a new home that they recently purchased. After dealing with moving all the box and getting things unpacked then next step was getting everything hooked up and starting to actually "use" the house. Sure its a new house and everything should work perfectly but obviously thats not always the case. Once we began to "test" the house we quickly started to run into issues with some of the appliances not performing as they should.

San Diego is a Great place for Frequent travelers

Posted by Jake on Sun, 06/01/2008 - 09:41

San Diego is a great home base for frequent travelers. Lets face it traveling is a pain in the ass so anything you can do to upgrade your travel experience is always a plus. Having lived in several major metropolitan areas, traveling to and from the airport is always a extra little inconvenience that is rarely factored into your main travel time. That being said, thats not really the case in San Diego, the airport is easily accessible, small, relatively organized and efficient. I put together a little list of why San Diego is a great place for frequent travelers....
