I haven't had a chance to post anything this week because i've been traveling and despite popular belief there are still areas of the US with spotty internet access.

Time management is always tricky, especially when working on the web. Even with the best discipline, its easy to find yourself checking the news, the weather, or responding to IMs when you should be focused on a specific task. There is just so much good information available, who can resist. I was going to get into a couple ways to try and avoid this or atleast track it but i'll have to follow up some other time because as i'm writing this sentence i just remembered an import email i need to send and i want to respond to my sister's IM real quick.... TBC.

We all know that we are supposed to help others and that it usually feels good in return but i think sometimes we don't do it enough. If you aren't familiar with Kiva.org it is great site that allows you to "invest" in business in developing countries. This weekend i just gave a new loan to "Ibrahim Mohamed" in Tanzania to help grow this general store. Kiva has lots of great businesses to pick from and you can start with as little as $25. I can explain it all but your best off going to check it out for yourself.

So i was just filling out some content for the "About Me" section of this site and I thought it would be fun to list some the other Jakes out there and some of the other uses of the word Jake. So I jumped over to good old wikipedia and copied most of what they had there, you can see those here, but then I decided to see what the good old urban dictionary hard to say and I was pretty startled.

Over lunch today I was pondering some business ideas with a couple friends and discussing why we hadn't pursued a couple very valuable low hanging fruit. After a quick SWAT analysis we knew we had everything needed to take advantage of these opportunities, but was that enough? I quickly reminded my buddy of those powerful words of wisdom delivered to us long ago from our friend GI joe, "Knowing is half the battle!"

I have been doing SEO for some time now and i have always struggled with the fact the "Fields Jake" ranks much better than "Jake Fields" in all the major search engines. When creating social media profiles and commenting on blogs i use "Fields, Jake" for my name on the entries that a really want found. This has been a topic of discussion and confusion on many occasions now and i have had it... So i decided that effective today i'm officially changing my name(online and legally) to "Fields Jake".
