4 Hour Work Week - Media Fast

In chapter six of 'The 4 Hour Work Week', Tim talks about having a low information diet and being selectively ignorant. 
He proposes that you do a one week media fast where you avoid mass media news in order to save time and cut down on distractions.
I love the concept and i was quite excite(and scared) to give it a try. After 4 days I have to admit, i've been cheating and while the first day went well, I have pretty much given up. I'm sure i can try starting over or just blow it off, but the real problem is I'm traveling right now and i want read the book in my downtime but i feel guilting moving forward without succeeding in yet another of Ferriss's challenges. From this apparent first round failure, , my dark secret has been exposed, I am in fact addicted to media. The procrastination value, the curiosity satisfaction, and of course the deep seeded need to consumer celebrity junk, are all factors that fuel my problem. But i do feel i am now on the right path, i have identified my issue and am now ready to address it. I dont plan of going cold turkey, but i will begin to cut back and try to enjoy this tasty evil in moderation. Tim, as for your challenge, i'm going to give it another try and then i am moving on.
